  • OpenAI is in talks to raise several billion dollars in a new funding round that would value the company behind ChatGPT at over $100 billion, significantly higher than its previous $86 billion valuation.

  • Venture capital firm Thrive Capital is expected to lead the round with an investment of about $1 billion, while Microsoft is also anticipated to participate.

  • The potential $100 billion valuation comes as OpenAI's annualized revenue has exceeded $3 billion, putting the valuation at over 30 times its revenue.

  • Google Photos has begun rolling out its AI-powered feature, "Ask Photos," which allows users to search for photos using natural language queries. Initially available in early access to select users in the U.S., it utilizes Google's Gemini AI model to enhance photo retrieval capabilities.

  • Users can now ask more complex questions about their photos, such as requesting the "best photo from each of the National Parks I visited." The AI evaluates various factors like lighting and geolocation to provide tailored results.

  • Beyond photo retrieval, Ask Photos can answer questions about past events, such as themes used for birthday parties or specific dining experiences, leveraging its understanding of users' photo galleries and personal memories.

  • An AI-powered software called Dysolve AI, created by Coral Hoh, is helping students with dyslexia, including Truly Heft from Montgomery County, who struggled with reading and comprehension before using the program.

  • The software adapts to each student's needs by creating personalized interactions through games, which helps improve processing speeds and reading retention. Truly's younger sibling learned to read within months of starting the program.

  • The monthly subscription for Dysolve AI is $222, which can be a financial burden for families. The creator hopes to make the software more accessible by encouraging school districts to purchase it, thereby reducing costs for families.

  • Replit has launched "Replit Agent," an AI tool that enables users with no coding knowledge to create applications simply by entering prompts. This tool automates the setup of development environments, package installations, and database configurations.

  • Users can input prompts like "Create a map that includes local landmarks," and the AI will generate the application, providing ongoing feedback and suggestions during the process. Users can also review the code and deploy it to the cloud.

  • Replit Agent is currently in early access for subscribers of Replit Core, which costs $10 per month. The tool is designed to work better with detailed prompts and allows the AI to select the appropriate technology stack for the project.

  • Google DeepMind has launched AlphaProteo, an AI system designed to create novel protein binders that can effectively attach to target proteins, significantly enhancing drug discovery and biological research capabilities.

  • AlphaProteo demonstrates a remarkable improvement in binding affinities, achieving results that are 3 to 300 times better than existing methods and successfully generating protein binders for critical targets like VEGF-A, associated with cancer and diabetes complications.

  • The generated protein binders have been validated in laboratory settings, showing high success rates in binding to various target proteins, which opens new avenues for drug development, disease understanding, and applications in biosensors and agriculture.
