  • The AI system, inspired by models like ChatGPT, has achieved a 96% accuracy in diagnosing cancer from medical images and patient data, outperforming human clinicians in some cases.

  • The AI is designed to analyze a wide range of medical data, including images, lab results, and clinical notes, to provide comprehensive and accurate diagnoses. This integrated approach helps in making more informed decisions.

  • This technology has the potential to revolutionize cancer diagnosis by reducing errors, speeding up the diagnostic process, and improving patient outcomes. It could also be adapted for diagnosing other diseases, making it a significant advancement in medical AI.

  • Mira Murati, the former CTO of OpenAI, is reportedly fundraising for a new AI startup. This venture will focus on developing AI products based on proprietary models and could secure over $100 million in funding.

  • Before her departure from OpenAI, Murati had a significant career, including roles at Tesla and Leap Motion. She joined OpenAI in 2018 as VP of applied AI and partnerships and was promoted to CTO in 2022. She also served as interim CEO during a brief period.

  • Murati's departure is part of a series of recent executive exits from OpenAI. Despite these changes, OpenAI recently announced a record-breaking $6.6 billion venture capital round, the largest VC round to date.

  • Perplexity AI is in talks with investors to raise approximately $500 million in a new funding round, which could more than double its current valuation to around $9 billion. This would be the company's fourth significant funding round in the past year, following valuations of $520 million in January, $1 billion in April, and $3 billion in the summer.

  • Perplexity AI operates an AI-powered search engine and chatbot that provides answers to user queries in a manner similar to ChatGPT, rather than listing links. The service is free to use, but the company generates revenue through premium subscriptions and plans to integrate ads to further increase revenue. The enterprise version of the search engine can also search a company's internal files.

  • Perplexity AI has faced criticism from web publishers for using their content without permission. In response, the company has introduced a revenue-sharing program for publishers, offering them a flat fee for content used in search results that generate ad revenue, along with other incentives such as free subscriptions and access to its API.

  • Nicolas Cage, during a speech at the Newport Beach Film Festival, urged young actors to resist the pressure from studios to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to alter their performances. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the organic and handmade nature of film acting, which he believes is under threat from AI technologies like EBDR (Electronic Body Double Replacement).

  • EBDR is a type of generative AI that allows studios to use digital replicas of actors, enabling changes to their performances, such as face, voice, line deliveries, and body language, even after filming is complete. Cage warned that this technology could significantly undermine the control and integrity of an actor's performance.

  • Cage advised young actors to turn down contracts that include EBDR terms, advocating for the protection of their artistic integrity. He also expressed his personal unease about the potential for AI to replicate his likeness after his death, highlighting broader concerns about the impact of AI on the authenticity and legacy of artistic work.

  • Prabhakar Raghavan, the long-time head of Google's Knowledge & Information (K&I) division, which includes Search, Ads, Geo, and Commerce, will transition to the role of Chief Technologist. In this new role, he will focus on providing technical direction and fostering a culture of technological excellence, working closely with CEO Sundar Pichai and other Google leaders

  • The Gemini app team, led by Sissie Hsiao, will be integrated into Google DeepMind under Demis Hassabis to improve feedback loops, enable faster deployment of new Gemini models, and enhance product momentum. Additionally, the Google Assistant teams focused on devices and home experiences will move to the Platforms & Devices division to consolidate AI-powered home initiatives and improve user experiences

  • Nick Fox, a seasoned Google executive and member of Raghavan's leadership team, will take over as the head of the K&I division. Fox has a strong background in shaping Google's AI product roadmap and has led the development of products like Google Fi and RCS messaging. He will oversee Search, Ads, Geo, and Commerce operations.
